Create a quarterly BC Newsletter
You need a business continuity newsletter to promote awareness. Making it quarterly keep you in employees minds. In my experience they are fun and a learning experience to research and write and more important employees love them. Below are a few ideas to get you going. Obviously writing Real Continuity and nine books I love to write and enjoy the publishing process. If you have any questions please comment on this or contact me directly.
- Come up with a catchy name – maybe even hold a contest to name it..
- Make it informative and fun. Write your own articles and augment with FEMA type info where appropriate – but do not entirely use curated info. The newsletter must be customized and branded to make it interesting and valuable for your employees.
- Consider special preparation editions for Hurricane Season, Tornadoes, Earthquakes, Winter preparation…
- Publicize milestones and successful responses to disasters by your company and your team. A little pub always helps get people involved.
- Encourage employee submissions
- Remind people they are part of business continuity. If the are unsure of their role to contact the appropriate manager or your team.
- Remind people that their plans are ‘living documents’ and to always keep them up-to-date.
- Include fun contests, surveys and/or quizzes.
- Ask for feedback and suggestions – it is invaluable to the growth of your program.
Your newsletter can work hand-in-hand with you BC Blog. See the RealContinuity.com posting on implementing one.
